Lieh Lung was born to a low-ranked Yan household on the Empire’s eastern frontier. Life was difficult in such a poor district. The pernicious influence of necromancy from the Tetsumo Shogunate made the soil poor and served to drive off most animals so that gathering enough food to endure the harsh winters was never a certainty. Lieh Lung learned to endure severe privations, working from dawn to dusk to help feed his family and render up their tithe to the Kaali.
